Love this SIM!

Got a SIM for my son and it's perfect. The School Time SIM plan is exactly what we needed. No more worrying during school hours! It works great and he's still able to reach us. Will definitely be getting another one for my younger daughter soon. So happy with this!

Good for safety, some hiccups

I got the Child Safe SIM Card for my daughter's first phone. The call blocking and recording features are really solid and give me peace of mind. Setup was pretty straightforward, but I had a small issue activating it; their customer service sorted it out after a quick email. Delivery took about 5 days to reach us, which was okay but not super fast. Overall, it's a valuable service for child safety, just wish activation was smoother.

Detailed control and good value

I purchased the Parental Control SIM for my 11-year-old. The ordering process on their website was clear and easy to navigate. I liked that I could customize the plan details to exactly what I needed. The SIM arrived quickly, within 3 business days, which was faster than I expected. Activation was simple through their online portal, and I was able to set up all the call and SMS blocking rules almost instantly. I've been monitoring the usage, and the remote monitoring features work flawlessly. It's a bit more expensive than a standard SIM, but the specialized features for kids make it worth the investment for the peace of mind it offers. The data-free plans are also a nice touch for younger kids.

Hey, thinking about getting a SIM for my kid's first phone. Does ParentShield actually work with any unlocked phone or do I need to get some special one?

R Rachel Mitchell 3 weeks ago
Yeah it'll work, just needs to be unlocked. I used an old iPhone 8 for my daughter and it was fine.

Pretty sure it works with most unlocked phones. Like, if it takes a normal SIM card, you should be good. No fancy tech needed.

how long does it typically take to get the SIM card delivered? I'm in Manchester and need it by next week.

L Leah Hall 2 weeks ago
Mine arrived in like 2-3 days, to London. So Manchester should be pretty quick too.

I think they send them out pretty fast. You should get it well before next week, probably within a few business days.

Just wondering if they ever do 'first month free' type deals or discount codes, or is it mostly just the referral thing?

M Matt B. 1 month ago
I've seen some introductory plan rates for new customers sometimes, especially around September/August when kids go back to school. But yeah, the referral credit is pretty consistent.

Mostly referral credits I think. But it's worth checking their site around seasonal peaks like back-to-school or Christmas, they might have something then.

Anyone know if ParentShield does a multi-SIM discount? I've got two kids and would definitely sign them both up if there's a deal for that.

L Luke L. 3 weeks ago
They totally do! My friend got a discount when she added her second child. It's not a huge amount but it helps.

Yeah, I think there's a sibling discount. You should see it mentioned when you're signing up for the second one, or you can just ask their support, they're pretty helpful.

Is ParentShield really better than just using the parental controls built into my phone or something like Giffgaff with some filters? Seems a bit overkill maybe?

M Michelle Thomas 1 week ago
For me, it's way better. The call recording and blocking features are super granular, like you can really tailor it. Much more control than just a phone's built-in stuff or Giffgaff's basic filters.

It's a different level. Giffgaff is just a regular network with some basic content filtering. ParentShield is designed from the ground up for kids, so the call/SMS monitoring and blocking is way more robust. Depends how much control you want.
